As told in an earlier post I have one big passion when it comes to sports. I do like sports in general and especially read about sports in the newspaper. But when it comes to Leksands IF it becomes really serious. For you who unfamiliar with Leksands IF it’s a hockey team from my home region “Dalarna” (Dalecarlia). It’s a really small town with barely 6000 inhabitants but the team has a lot of fans in all of Sweden and use to be the team with the greatest support in away games.
Being a fan of Leksand is not that healthy since they have been going up and down from Swedish first division (SHL) since 2001 and been playing relegation/promotion play off almost every year since then. And that’s something that puts a lot of pressure on all the fans and their mental health. And this year they’re going up against the biggest local rival Mora in a best of 7 series and I couldn’t be more nervous.
To ease my nervousness a bit I chose to re-record a hymn I wrote for the club a few years ago. I also rewrote an old hymn, made famous as an parody by the Swedish/American union activist Joe Hill. And here’s the result. “Det stoltaste av lag” (The proudest of teams) and “Tills dagen jag dör” (Until the day I die).
