As told in the last post I’ve been up to a lot this week. So here comes some more updates. First of all I just got news that I got placed on number two at Svenska Närradiolistan (Top list for Swedish Local Radio). My greatest accomplishment so far since I’m competing with a lot of established Swedish artist. If you want me to stay on the list next week please vote for me by clicking this link: VOTE JON MAGNUSSON.
This Wednesday I decided to step a bit out of my comfort zone and for the first time ever I went all by my self to a concert. I went to see the amazing Almost Honey and since I had quite a lot of contact with them via Facebook it was really nice getting to meet them in person and see them play live. They are not only great artists and songwriters they are also really cool people. I already added “Sweetest thing” to the playlist a while ago so today I give you my second favorite Almost Honey song, Paradise Lost from their album The Weary Heart of Yours.
Today I give you double up on music suggestions since I found so much new music this week.
Seething Akira and their song Backlash I found listening to New Music Saturday with Dr Bones and Mike from 1inFive. They describe themselves as Sweaty Synth-Punk and I don’t disagree. The song is amazing!
To slow down after this sweaty tune I give some really great jazz from David L. Harris. His new album Blues I Felt could be played at a dinner party as well as lying in bed listening with some nice head phones. He plays trombone and sings, but this song is totally instrumental, but hell it’s great. This American guy got in contact with me via Twitter.
Next out is one of my favorite Swedish bands with one of the best band names, [ingenting], literally means [nothing] in Swedish. Some 6-7 years ago I had the honour to take some classes with the singer Christopher Sander since we’re both social workers. He also done some great solo stuff a few years ago, the album “Jorden var rund”.
From Swedish to Spanish. Diego Villacorta is a talented musician and songwriter from Lima, the beautiful capital of Peru. We got in touch on Facebook and I really like his song Universos Paralelos (you have to guess what it means in English). With the ukulele intro this song will make you happy.
The last act today Of Empires doesn’t spare the reverb. But they do it with finesse and it sounds amazing.
A lot of stuff to tell this time! Thanks for supporting me and other indie artist. I also made some changes to my playlist with a new cover art and a brand new name #Keepoutofthemainstream. There’s a lot of great music on it so give it a listen and a follow. See ya soon!
